Frequently Asked Questions
Every moment matters...
I work with you to understand your vision for your wedding day. During a wedding day I tap into my full range of skills: blending artistry, technical knowledge of lighting and composition, and people skills. I love shooting weddings because they are the most rewarding, everyone looks their best, and most important of all they are happy!
Experience
I have been shooting weddings and portraits since 1999, and have recently made a move to make photography my full time career. My current portfolios show examples of my work in the digital format.
My time for you
The first pre-wedding consultation is a chance for me to get to know you as a couple and to get an overview of your wedding plans. By the time we have our second meeting (about a month from the wedding date) we are able to finalize the details of your wedding day coverage. After the wedding the post-production work begins. I carefully archive, sort, edit and post your photos online. Each photo chosen for print is individually touched-up so that you and your guests look your very best. Photographing a wedding is a labour of love and goes far beyond the actual shooting time.
Equipment
I work with Nikon digital SLR bodies, lenses and strobes. I ALWAYS carry back-up equipment and batteries. All photo files are archived on CD or DVD immediately after finishing an event. My digital darkroom consists of a Mac (G5 Power Mac) with a calibrated display running the latest photo editing software (Photoshop CS2).
Archival life of prints
All my printing is done at a professional lab. Depending on the final print size, their Kodak printers use either lasers or Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to expose digital images onto color photographic paper. The paper used is Kodak Supra Endura photographic paper, which is a large colour gamut professional paper which boasts an image stability of 100 years in home display or 200 years in dark storage. For more information, click here to visit Kodak's web site.
An additional spray coating is available which helps protect prints from finger marks and fading. All flush-mount album prints are sprayed.
Digital negatives and proofs
Digital negatives are the electronic equivalent of the film negative. These are high-resolution files (250 dpi, JPEG, RGB profile) that you can take to any photo lab to make your own prints. But unlike film negatives, each file you receive from me has been touched up so that it will look its best on paper. Digital proofs on the other hand are low-resolution (72 dpi) and are best for emailing and posting on websites. They are not suitable for high quality prints.
Bookings and dates available
I do not shoot more than one wedding a day. I am booking into 2007 and there are still several dates available for 2006.
Payment schedule and method
In order to confirm my services, I require 25% of the package price (plus tax) at the time of booking as a deposit. A payment of 50% (plus tax) is due on the wedding date with the final 25% and any additional purchases (plus tax) when you receive your prints. I accept payment by cheque (to Imajing Photography), Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.
Travel and mileage
If your wedding is within the GTA or Golden Horseshoe (Hamilton to Oshawa), then the travel time is accounted for in the package price. If your wedding is outside this area and more than 100 km from my studio, I will bill at two dollars per km over 100, as calculated by Google Maps (i.e. Studio to Parry Sound is 220 km, 120 extra km = $240 on top of package price).
Turnaround time
You and your guests can see a preview of the wedding photos as soon as the next day. Your online proofs are posted online no more than two weeks after the wedding. Prints are ready within 3 weeks from the date you place your order. Custom album designs take 4-6 weeks.
Albums
Traditional wedding albums hold a set number of pages in which photos are mounted in pre-cut mats. My flush mounted albums offer you a unique presentation of your photos, making use of a variety of effects and layout options. The flush mount album is available in a wide range of sizes. The leather cover can be imprinted with your choice of text. Please refer to the price list for details.
Dress code
I dress to be low key -- professional and functional, which means end up wearing a dark pant-suit (or seasonal equivalent), and flats. I dress to be inconspicuous yet comfortable.
